Preparing for Bringing the Gospel to Trokosi Women in Ghana

Greetings Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As we prepare for leaving in January, we have found that mission preparation involves "many moving parts,” as one of our church's elders reminded us.  What will we do with all of our furniture?  How much of our personal effects will we need to take with us to Ghana?  What vaccinations will we need? Those of you that are afraid of needles (as James is) will appreciate the anxiety about vaccinations.  And James' most pressing issue:  "will I be able to get good clean ice water?!"  While the latter is hardly a serious matter, we did not fully appreciate the amount of rearranging that we would have to do with our lives in order to serve the LORD overseas.  But, the LORD has continually reminded us that we must keep our eyes fixed on Him, as He provides for all our needs "according to His riches in glory."

And the LORD has already begun to pave the way!  We received news from Every Child Ministries (ECM) that one of their board members has generously donated a considerable amount to our mission fund.  Praise the LORD! It is such a joy and privilege to know that the LORD will use various people from all walks of life to guide and sustain His people.  Indeed, since we launched this blogsite, we have received generous, loving support and prayers from many of you and we know that the LORD will continue to provide partners for this ministry.

Very often, when we Christians are called upon to aid  in the building of our LORD’s kingdom in distant lands, it is difficult to envision those individuals we are helping.

Witness the face of Mama Awo, (photo on the right)  a former head Trokosi of the Akilodo Shrine as she is seen here posing with “the witchcraft pot that spiritually bound her to the shrine, just before she had it burned.”  She was liberated in 2004.

Or how about the smiling face of Grace (below) who was liberated from the Sovigbenor shrine in 2005

That's all for now.  May the LORD richly bless each and every one of you.
