Mission Training 101

I (Denese) am writing from my Mom’s house in a little town outside of Chattanooga.  This week we had a snowstorm, something that is almost unheard of in this part of the country.  Ice trucks and snow plows are in short supply here, so the back roads are still icy in patches.  While I am sitting here enjoying the slow-paced life, I thought you might like to hear about our trip to Orlando.

It was such a treat to renew acquaintances I had made in the years that I volunteered for Wycliffe Associates(WA).  James and I also made many new friends that I am sure we will treasure for years to come.  We had cross-culture training and software training, as well as learning more about the role and history of WA.  We also met with the Pacific Area Director and the VP of Operations to learn more about our roles in PNG.

One of the exciting challenges we have is to jump-start a project called the Sepik River Initiative.  It is a project that would start the translation of the Bible into 100 languages as well as revitalizing 130 translations that have been sidelined by various obstacles.  We knew that we would have important roles, but to have the privilege to be part of such a vital project is overwhelming (and this is just one of the many projects we will support). Please pray that God would use this Sepik River Initiative to quickly get God’s Word into the hands of many people in PNG. Pray also that God would use us in a powerful way.  Our human abilities are no match for the tasks ahead, but we know that “all things are possible with God.”
